Essroc Cement Corportation Announces Plans To Idle Lawrence County Plant

 

BESSEMER, Pa. —

Essroc Cement Corporation will shut down production at its Lawrence County plant in Bessemer starting in May.

On Monday it said plans to lay off 113 employees may be permanent.

Essroc’s Bessemer site supplies cement to customers in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania

Last December Essroc laid off 110 employees at a facility in Frederick, Md. It blamed the slumping construction market.

The manufacturer is based in Nazareth, Pa., and is North America’s largest cement producer by capacity.
