Family: Man Goes Blind After Somerset Twp. ATV Accident

SOMERSET TWP., Pa. —

A 20-year-old man is recovering at UPMC Mercy Hospital after his family members said he was in an all-terrain vehicle accident Thursday evening.

Scott Sprowls' family said he was forced off of Wherry Road in Somerset Township while riding his ATV. They said Sprowls hit a fence post and was thrown into the woods.

When paramedics arrived, they said he lost his vision. Family members said his condition is improving and he is expected to be released from the hospital Sunday.

Channel 11 reporter Dave Bondy discovered that this accident happened just two miles away from a deadly ATV accident that happened in June when Richard Oblak was killed.
