Father Of Assault Victim: 'Why Is That House Still Standing?'

On the same day that a child-rape suspect waived his right to a preliminary hearing, the victim's father wanted to know why the house where the alleged assault took place is still standing.

"Why is that house still standing? I'd like to know why is that house still standing? The conditions up there are what led to this happening," said the 11-year-old victim's father.

Channel 11 is not revealing the father's identity in order to protect the child.

The victim's father said he's disappointed that the mayor's office, in his opinion, hasn't made any effort to raze the abandoned building along Ivondale Street in Greenfield.

City Council president Doug Shields also criticized the mayor's office for not moving faster to clean up the neighborhood.

Clyde Haidle, 46, will stand trial on charges of raping a girl inside that house in May.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Channel 11 learned on Wednesday that the family of the 81-year-old woman who owns the house is not financially able to make necessary repairs. The woman now lives in a nursing home.

In light of this fact, the city told Channel 11 they will now move to demolish the house, but first they need to go through a number of legal steps through the courts.

The victim's father revealed that his daughter struggles every day.

"She's changed from daddy's little sweet girl to some 11-year-old gothic I don't know what," he said.
