Fayette County Church Fire Under Investigation

GRINDSTONE, Pa. —

A tiny congregation in Fayette County is continuing to meet as state police investigate the fire that destroyed their sanctuary.

A fire marshal hasn't determined the cause of Friday morning's fire that destroyed the Grace Baptist Church building in Redstone Township. That's about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.

For now, the congregation is using the Grindstone volunteer fire department's social hall for worship services. About 25 members met for services on Sunday.

Fire marshal Cpl. Thomas Maher said the damage was so extensive he couldn't determine what caused the fire. The fire caused about $200,000 damage to the tiny, white church.
