Final Day For Humane Society To Recyce Old Electronics For Free

 

PITTSBURGH —

Saturday is the last day for the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society to offer a free recycling program for old electronics which will help homeless animals.

For every 100,000 pounds of electronics collected, the Humane Society will receive $10,000.

Used electronics can be dropped off Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

-The swimming pool parking lots at North Park, South Park, Boyce Park and Settler’s Cabin.

-The duck pond parking lot at Round Hill Park.

-The Humane Society Shelter on the North Side.

The drop-off sites will be open from March 28 to April 11, Monday through Friday 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

There will be a $15 charge for non-plasma/flat screen televisions due to the delicate and expensive nature of recycling older televisions.

Items will be recycled by EarthEcycle.

The following items will be accepted, both functional and non-functional:

• All batteries • Cables/wiring • Camcorders • Cameras • CB radios • CD players • Cell phones • Cell phones • Circuit boards • Computer monitors • Computer software • Computers/laptops • DVD players • Electric lawnmowers • Electric pianos • Electric wheelchairs • Fax machines • Game consoles • Generators • Microwaves • PDAs • Photo copiers • Plotters • Power tools • Printers • Projectors • Radios • Speakers • Stereos • Telephones • Typewriters • VCRs • Video cameras
