Fire Destroys Former Jefferson Swim Club

Investigators Say Fire May Be Suspicious

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. —

Firefighters say a fire that destroyed a former swim club in Jefferson Hills might be suspicious.

The building that used to house the Jefferson Swim Club is now just a blackened shell.

The building has been vacant for a few years. Investigators said the fire could be arson or could have started with an electrical problem.

“It was all concrete walls and wooden roof and wooden walls inside, so everything on this inside was completely gutted, but the outside structure still stands," said Jefferson Hills Fire Chief Kurt Christofel.

Christofel said his crews have been called out several times to the same building for other fires.
