Fire Marshal: Child Started Wilmerding House Fire

 

WILMERDING, Pa. —

Authorities said a fire that started in the attic of a home in Wilmerding was intentionally set by a child.

According to the Allegheny County fire marshal, the child, whose name has not been released, was playing with a lighter, setting combustibles on fire.

Police said the child will be placed in a juvenile detention center. He will be evaluated and take safety classes.

The Red Cross is assisting three people who lived in the home.
