Firefighter Accused Of Assaulting Boys, Police Say

BRENTWOOD, Pa. —

A Brentwood volunteer firefighters is accused of sexually assaulting two young boys, according to police.

Investigators said they learned about the assaults when one of the two victims told his mother what happened.

Jerome Kirsch, 40, is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend's son and his friend. Police said the boys were between the ages of 10 and 14 years old when the assaults happened in 2005 and 2006.

"What adds a lot of credibility to this is that the two [boys] had not seen each other in a while and are not friends anymore. But once we were able to contact him he was able to come forward with stories that are similar to what the first victim had stated," said Jeffery Korczyk of the Allegheny County Police Department.

Police said the assaults happened at Kirsch's homes in Greenock and Brentwood.

Kirsch was arrested on Thursday at the Brentwood Fire Department, where he worked as a volunteer firefighter.

Kirsch was taken to jail on $25,000 straight bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
