Flames Shoot From Car Along Parkway East

Flames and thick black smoke could be seen shooting from a car along the Parkway East Thursday evening.

The car was abandoned on the side of the road near the Swissvale exit.

No one was inside the car at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.

Traffic moved past the car fire until fire crews arrived on the scene and blocked off part of the roadway while they brought the blaze under control. Traffic was backed up in the outbound lanes for a short time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
