Flood Waters Force Millvale Residents From Homes

Several Homes Flooded

MILLVALE, Pa. —

There is a major cleanup effort under way Monday in Millvale.

People living in about 100 homes near Girty's Run were told to evacuate overnight.

The rain fell between 11 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday.

Some people on North Avenue quickly moved their belongings from the game room to a dining room.

Firefighters spent the morning putting out small fires from lightning strikes.

They were also pumping water out of flooded basements.

No injuries have been reported.

Flooding was also a problem in parts of Westmoreland County.

The driver of a car got stuck in floodwaters on Broad Street Extension in South Greensburg.

Rescuers had to pull the woman to safety.
