Former Steeler Jerome Bettis Makes Commencement Speech At Duquesne

More Than 1,300 Students Graduated From University

PITTSBURGH —

Jerome Bettis had some words of wisdom for the class of 2008 at Duquesne University Friday night.

The former Steelers running back delivered the commencement address at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

Bettis spoke about the three stages of life as he sees them; learning, earning, and returning. He said "It's a tremendous honor to give a commencement speech because you get an opportunity to speak to some of the brightest minds in the country and just give them, first of all congratulations, but just some insight into life and what you've gone through in your life."

The university also handed out several honorary degrees at Friday's commencement.
