Furry Convention Creates Wild Scene In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH —

Things are little wilder than usual in downtown Pittsburgh.

Anthrocon, the world’s largest convention for people fascinated with animal characters that take on humanlike qualities, is at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center through Sunday.

Nearly 3,000 fans, known as furries, are attending the 11th annual convention.

They dress up as everything from cats to cartoon characters.

Some sport animal tails or masks, while others dress head to toe in fur.

Several furries were spotted walking through Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon.

They will hold a parade at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the convention center.
