MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. —
In an exclusive interview Wednesday, Andrea McNulty’s attorney Cal Dunlap told Channel 11’s Rick Earle he was contacted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation earlier this week.
“I think it was on Monday,” said Dunlap.
Dunlap said they didn’t give a reason as to why they were calling and just said they wanted to speak with his client.
McNulty is the former hotel worker who filed a civil lawsuit last summer, accusing Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her in his penthouse room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. McNulty never filed a police report.
Roethlisberger has denied the allegation and his attorneys have vigorously defended him.
The McNulty case has been put on hold until the Nevada Supreme Court rules on a change of venue. Dunlap said at this point, he won’t let her sit down with investigators in Georgia.
“My response was that it was my practice not to have my client be interviewed during the pending of a lawsuit and that the information that they most likely were interested in would all be in the public record because there's very detailed allegations in the filings that we have made, “ said Dunlap.
Dunlap told Earle things could change.
“I can’t say there won’t be any. I'm just saying at this time that's our position, but depending on what facts develop and what information my investigation gathers that perhaps that position might change at some point,” said Dunlap.
A 20-year-old woman in Milledgeville, Ga., recently told police that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her at a club. No charges have been filed against Roethlisberger.
