Giant Eagle Hopes To Sell 6-Packs At New Store

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Giant Eagle has applied for a license to sell beer at its Market District store being built in Robinson Township.

Beer distributors are fighting the move, but as a Giant Eagle spokesman pointed out, the grocer sells beer, wine and liquor in its Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland supermarkets.

Giant Eagle said customers have come to appreciate the convenience.

Another grocery chain, Wegman’s, has already been approved to sell beer at some of its stores.
