Girl, 11, Reports Attempted Abduction In Mt. Lebo

MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. —

Police are looking for two men accused in the attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl in Mount Lebanon.

According to police, the girl was walking home from bible school along Hazel Drive when two white men in their 20s approached her near the intersection of Hemlock Drive.

The girl told police one of the men asked her to get in the car to go for a ride, but she declined. The girl told police the man said, “Why don’t you?” before she took off running toward Jefferson Drive, where her relative lives.

Paula Harvey told Channel 11 News that the incident happened right in front of her home.

"I’ll probably be more vigilant, seeing children and if there's a car,” said Harvey.

One of the men had dark brown hair and slight facial stub. The other had blond hair. Both were wearing sunglasses and appeared to be in their 20s.

The vehicle is described as a small, black, four-door sedan.

Officers said the girl did everything right and that parents should always warn their children of dangerous situations like this one.

"Unless it's something you've worked out, prearranged, or a code word for picking the child up - tell your children never to get into a car with anyone," said Lt. Aaron Lauth of the Mt. Lebanon Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
