Girl, 3, Left Alone Crying In 'Uninhabitable' Home

MONROEVILLE, Pa. —

Neighbors called police about a crying little girl who was left alone in a Monroeville home on Thursday.

Police were called to 435 Valley View Drive and found a three-year-old girl in unsafe conditions.

“We had to get her out of there,” said Stephen Pascarella of the Monroeville police.

When Channel 11 News asked about the condition of the house, Pascarella said, “Uninhabitable is the best description – garbage, rotten food, urine, feces. There’s no utilities in the room, and it was a mess.”

Investigators said officers waited for an hour for the parents and the girl's 15-year-old brother to show up. When police couldn't get their questions answered, they took the children into custody.

The children’s grandfather told Channel 11 that he now has custody of the children.

Police said it is possible charges are forthcoming against the person responsible for leaving the 3-year-old girl alone in unsafe conditions.
