The Rite Aid Celebration of Lights attracts more than 600,000 people every year. Now celebrating its 18th year, the annual lights display raises funds for new winter outerwear for needy kids and seniors throughout the Salvation Army’s Project Bundle Up. Other charities benefiting from the display include: Children’s Miracle Network, St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality and many others.
Hartwood Acres boasts nearly 400 displays, some ranging in 3 to 40 foot tall. Approximately 2 million lights are used to create the massive display. Allegheny County Parks Department is adding three special sports-related displays to the lineup this year. They include: a football player running for a touchdown, a hockey goalie interacting with a player with a puck and a NASCAR scene.
The show is open every day, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Hours are: Sunday – Thursday: 6:00-10:00 PM Friday – Saturday: 6:00 – 11:00 PM.
The suggested donation per car is $12.00 For more information call 412-350-2455
