Investigation Conducted Into Allegheny Co. 911 Failure

Review Focuses On Multiple Issues

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. —

The Allegheny County controller's office wants to find out how a recent partial failure of the 911 system happened.

The county controller is conducting a full investigation to prevent the failure from happening again.

The review will focus on the county's compliance with grant contracts and the effectiveness of the 911 system, backup systems and disaster plans.

The county also wants to make sure the system was not to blame for the death of 5-month-old Alijah Schaffer.

The baby died while the emergency service was down.
