Jeannette Child Found Wandering Street With No Shoes, Socks

JEANNETTE, Pa. —

A Pennsylvania State Police trooper in Jeannette spotted a 4-year-old boy wearing a coat but no socks or shoes near the corner of Margaret Street and Harrison Avenue Monday afternoon.

According to police, the boy's 13-year-old brother, who was watching him at the time, called police to report the child missing.

Police said the boys' mother had the older child watching the 4-year-old while she traveled a few blocks away to visit her mother on Ellsworth Avenue.

Police said they were not going to file charges, but they contacted Fayette County Children and Youth Services to have the agency follow up on the mother to ensure the safety of her children.
