Judge Rejects Plea In Case Against Woman Accused Of Dragging Cop With Car

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. —

A Beaver County judge rejected a plea agreement in the case of a woman who is accused of dragging a police officer with her car.

A police officer trying to arrest a woman wanted on an outstanding bench warrant in Beaver County was dragged Wednesday night as the woman tried to flee in her vehicle.

Stephanie Tarzia, 20, of Industry, was pulled over in Shippingport in March after a police officer recognized she was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. As the officer tried to remove her from the car, she allegedly hit the gas, dragging the officer along with her, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said the officer was not seriously injured.

Tarzia was taken into custody following a brief chase. She is charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

Her case is headed to trial on Sept. 14.
