MASONTOWN, Pa. —
Due to the number of dogs, Christopher and Carla Gluvna’s Cherry Drive home is considered a kennel under the county’s zoning ordinance.
The couple said the animals are their pets, and they fear they’ll be euthanized if forced from the home.
The couple was fined on Dec. 20 after a judge said the couple didn’t comply with a 2008 order in which he gave them 120 days to reduce the number of dogs on their property from 12 to three.
"The more support and help we can get to fight this, the better. Our main goal is to have the ordinance overturned," said Carla Gluvna.
The Gluvnas' attorney said the judge assessed the hefty penalty because he felt the Gluvnas had defied his earlier order. However, she said the couple made a number of efforts to appease the county.
