Kennywood, Sandcastle Reps Say Weather Is Problem, Not Economy

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. —

Although the nation is in a recession, the economy isn’t putting any strain on local attractions such as Kennywood and Sandcastle.

Kennywood spokesman Jeff Flicko said that the economy hasn’t been a problem; it’s the weather that is stunting ticket sales.

"On the days it's been sunny and warm it's been nice and great. On the days it's been a little cooler the people tended to stay indoors and just find other things to do,” Flicko said.

Flicko said the park still expects a seasonal surge.

The most popular days are weekends in July and August.
