PITTSBURGH —
The meeting comes after the alleged police beating of high school student Jordan Miles back in January.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and the Black Political Empowerment Project hosted the event.
B-PEP chairman Tim Stevens said, "In my opinion, the Jordan Miles incident presents a significant and historic opportunity to move the reform agenda that many of us have been working towards for many years with regard to raising the standards of professionalism in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and improving police-community relations in the city.”
Jordan Miles, 18, a senior at the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School, Downtown, claims that Officers Richard Ewing, David Sisak and Michael Saldutte assaulted him during an arrest in Homewood in January.
The officers are now on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
