Lightning Strike Destroys Plum Home

PLUM, Pa. —

Flames shot out of the roof of a home in Plum Borough Wednesday night after it was struck by lightning.

Firefighters arrived to the Kellywood Court home within minutes after the fire was sparked at about 6 p.m., but it was too late to save the house.

"We heard a big crack of lightning. Our smoke alarms went off in our home. I did see smoke but thought it was fog in the trees," said neighbor Colleen Staub.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
