Local Airbase Team Returns From Iraq Ahead Of Schedule

This weekend, members of the 911th airlift wing returned home from Iraq, earlier than scheduled.

Nearly 15 members landed at the Coraopolis base on Sunday afternoon after serving three months in Iraq.

The group was originally deployed for a six-month tour in Kirkuk but was sent home ahead of schedule.

The squad initially landed at BWI airport outside of Baltimore before 911th base commander Col. Gordon H. Elwell picked his men up and flew them back to the 911th base.
