Local Astronaut Talks With Pittsburgh Students From Space

12 Students Chosen To Participate

SOUTH PARK, Pa. —

A local astronaut talked to 12 students at South Park Elementary School from space Tuesday.

Cmdr. Michael Fincke, of Emsworth, called from the International Space Station and answered questions from the children.

The school held a contest where hundreds of students submitted questions for Fincke. Only 12 were chosen to participate.

"Our main goal was to ignite their interest in science and math and the astronomy and the space program," said Wendy Holmes of South Park Elementary.
