City Council Campaign Turns Violent

Tuesday Is Primary Election Day

PITTSBURGH —

Tuesday is Primary Day across the state of Pennsylvania.

And there are new concerns after a Pittsburgh city campaign turned violent.

Shattered glass and shattered nerves can be found in Pittsburgh city council District 3 on the South Side.

Bricks were thrown through windows with signs supporting challenger Bruce Kraus, a 3rd District council candidate.

He is trying to unseat Councilman Jeff Koch.

Whether or not the two incidents are related to each other or to the City Council race, things are heating up.

Kraus said, "There's been some shenanigans in the race -- sign stealing and things of that nature. But this has escalated to violence.”

Koch released a statement saying, "I find these random acts of vandalism repulsive. The perpetrators, when apprehended, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Look for complete election results tonight on Channel 11 News.
