PITTSBURGH —
At 12:18 p.m. on the dot, 100 cell phone alarms went off simultaneously, sending a wake-up call to get talks on track for a new climate treaty.
"We think world leaders are sleeping on the watch right now. This is a time for urgency. This is a time for cooperation, and instead we're getting technicalities and a lot of folks just refusing to come to the table with viable plans for the world. So, we want to say wake up and take climate action now. Wake up and take the steps necessary for a fair, ambitious and binding global treaty," said protester Sam Daly.
The demonstrators chose 12:18 p.m. because Dec. 18 of this year is the last day of the United Nations climate talks in Copenhagen where leaders are suppose to agree to a global treaty.
