PITTSBURGH —

Many protesters are expected to hit the streets in downtown Pittsburgh next week to voice their opinions when global leaders converge for the G-20 summit.

Officers from the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and the Pittsburgh police department met Tuesday to alert local business owners.

The meeting with police on Tuesday answered business owners’ questions about necessary security measures.

Police warned that protesters may target some specific companies in the area.

“Larger corporate chains tend to be a focus rather than mom and pop independent businesses,” said Georgia Petropoulos Muir of the Oakland Business District.

With school in session, busy Oakland streets provide a perfect stage for protesters.
