Local Kids To Assist in Mural Expansion On Clemente Bridge During Bucs/Yanks Series

PITTSBURGH —

Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato Tuesday announced the expansion of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Mural Project to include a live art demonstration on the Roberto Clemente Bridge during the Pittsburgh Pirates series with the New York Yankees.

The temporary mural on the Clemente Bridge will promote the American Eagle Outfitters Tour of Pennsylvania Presented by Highmark Healthy High 5, the six-day, 420-mile stage bike race across Pennsylvania that started in Philadelphia Tuesday and will end in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

"Over the next three days, baseball fans on their way to PNC Park will experience community art in progress," said Onorato. "Kyle Holbrook (project head) combines art, education and beautification in his projects, while instilling a sense of civic pride."

The artists will focus on portraits of cyclists and flags. The students and their professional-artist mentors will paint on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 5 and 7 p.m. as baseball fans make their way across the Clemente Bridge to PNC Park.
