Local Verizon Worker Says She's Target Of Racial Threat

Doll With Noose Around Neck Found

CRANBERRY, Pa. —

A Butler County Verizon worker said she's the target of a racial threat.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed someone left a noose around a doll's neck with a note saying she didn't deserve a promotion. The doll was left on her desk in an inner-office envelope at the Verizon Wireless complex in Cranberry.

The alleged victim said, “How is this happening to me? Why does someone think I don't have the right to earn a living just like them? I was horrified. I never felt unsafe at my job. Now I just feel unsafe.”

A spokesperson released a statement: "We are aware of this allegation. We take it very seriously, and we are investigating it now."
