PITTSBURGH —

Authorities are looking for the person who fatally shot a 24-year-old man Wednesday afternoon inside a Garfield apartment building.

According to police, the victim was found in the front hallway of an apartment building on Stratford Avenue just before 5 p.m. He was shot once in the chest.

Investigators told Channel 11 News that the incident appeared to be a shootout between two people. A gun was recovered at the scene.

The victim was identified as Maurice Penny, an aspiring musician. Police said Penny likely had the gun found at the scene and fired at least one shot at the person who shot him.

Authorities said they don’t have many leads, but they’re looking for a red or burgundy pickup truck with two occupants that was seen leaving the area headed toward East Liberty.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact police.
