1 man killed in shooting with 2 state troopers in Fayette Co.
FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. —
Two state police opened fire Friday night while responding to a domestic dispute at a home in Fayette County.
According to state police, the shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. at 52 Rose Blvd. in North Union Township.
Upon the officers’ arrival, police said the officers attempted to enter the residence when Shawn Knight, 50, met them at the door holding a handgun in each hand. He pointed the guns at the officers, who immediately retreated from the residence to take cover, police said.
Officers said Knight followed them outside with the handguns and did not comply with their verbal commands, at which time the officers fired several shots.
One of those shots was fatal and killed Knight, according to police. The troopers were not injured.
The two troopers involved in the incident have been put on administrative duties, which is standard procedure, according to police.
State police continue to investigate the incident.
