Jared Buck, Troy Reaghard, Travis Shaffer and Ronald Garbinsky
Three University of Pittsburgh wrestlers and Slippery Rock University's quarterback are facing charges in connection with a fight in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood the night of the Kenny Chesney concert.
According to police records, wrestlers Troy Reaghard, Travis Shaffer and Ronald Garbinsky were involved in a fight last month that sent one man to the hospital.
A fourth man, Jared Buck, was also charged in the fight. Buck is the quarterback for Slippery Rock University.
Investigators said the four men were drunk when they instigated a fight with two men by making inappropriate comments about their girlfriends with no provocation.
One of the alleged victims told Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski that “they all surrounded me and started kicking me in the face.”
Dean Furr, 30, told Kaminski that he was beaten unconscious and suffered a concussion, facial fractures and a broken tooth. He said the other victim, Ryan Janke, was treated at the scene.
All four men are facing felony aggravated assault charges, public intoxication and underage drinking. Reaghard, who police said was carrying a fake ID, was charged with identity theft.
Slippery Rock University officials said they’re monitoring the situation and the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department issued the following statement: “All three wrestlers are suspended indefinitely from the team pending further information or developments."
