5-vehicle crash on Parkway East causes major morning traffic delays

PITTSBURGH —

Emergency crews responded to a five vehicle crash on the Parkway East Thursday morning.

According to initial reports, the crash happened around 8 a.m.

Channel 11's Trisha Pitman reported that the accident,  near the Grant Street exit coming from the Fort Pitt Bridge, had the eastbound lanes completley shut down for several hours.

Emergency crews said they weren't able to get to the scene at first and had to park on Fort Pitt Boulevard and pull themselves up and over the interstate connector barrier.

The lanes have since reopened.

Two adults and two children were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
