A home health care aide was recently arrested accused of stealing checks from a 75-year-old patient.
According to police, Alicia Brown is accused of stealing checks and was caught trying to cash one for $1,000.
Investigators said Brown was an aide for Nancy Entin and her common-law husband, Thomas Walsh.
Brown's friend, LaShawn Pearson, was also arrested because police said she cashed one of the stolen checks for $800. Investigators said Brown gave Pearson blank checks belonging to the victims.
Entin told Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski that she trusted Brown and she’s upset that she was ripped off.
“I trusted her because she was new. I never expected something to go wrong,” Entin said. “I cry when I go to bed and I cry when I get up. To think that people do this is awful.”
The company Brown worked for, Nurse Finders, said she was immediately fired after the incident. They also said she passed all security clearances before she was hired.
Brown faces a preliminary hearing April 4. She is facing charges of forgery and theft by unlawful taking.
Pearson waived charges of forgery and receiving stolen property at her preliminary hearing.
