Alert neighbor helps police nab Unity Twp. burglary suspect

UNITY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Police are crediting an alert neighbor for helping police catch a burglary suspect in Unity Township.

Authorities said the man heard someone knocking on his neighbor’s front door and moments later, a window shatter. The neighbor said he then saw the suspect crawl through a window into the house.

Detectives said they arrived at the Westmoreland County house and found Judston McMunn, 31, hiding in a bedroom closet.

According to police, they also found items in McMunn’s car from other burglaries in the Unity Township neighborhood.

“Through our investigation we were able to determine that he was also part of two other burglaries earlier that day and we believe there’s a third one he committed earlier in the week,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Steve Limani said.

Investigators said they usually see a rise in daytime burglaries once school starts because the suspects will knock to see if anyone is home and if no one answers, they break in.
