2nd victim comes forward in Ambridge child sex abuse case

AMBRIDGE, Pa. —

Channel 11's Vince Sims reported that a second victim came forward Wednesday claiming that a man accused in one sex-abuse case also sexually abused him.

According to police, the 14-year-old victim said Von Barbee bought him clothing and repeatedly propositioned him over a month's period of time.

The victim told police that during one encounter with Barbee, there was inappropriate touching involved.

Barbee, 44, is already facing charges after police said he sexually assaulted another 14-year-old boy on Monday at his house on Olive Lane. Police said Barbee gave alcohol to the boy and according to the criminal complaint, forced the boy to perform oral sex on him.

According to police, two girls were also at the house with Barbee and the boy, but they left.

Investigators said the victim came forward to police and said he was scared and felt like he had no choice.

Officer Zadock Dismuke said he had a hard time keeping his composure as the boy described what he said happened.

"He was crying profusely. It was hard to get him to open up at first. He was very scared. He ended up opening up," Dismuke said.

Dismuke said there is a strong possibility that Barbee has done this to other children.

"We are concerned that there are multiple victims out there and we have evidence suggesting that there are multiple victims out there. We are asking them to come forward and be strong like our original victim was," said Dismuke.

Shannon Haswell, who lives on Olive Lane, said she is surprised at the charges.

“I’m just dumbfounded to be honest with you. I can’t believe all of this,” Haswell said.

Neighbor Tim Pride agrees, but said he’s glad Barbee is in police custody.

“I never would have suspected him to do something like that. We have a lot of kids on the street and for something like that to occur he needs to be off the street,” Pride said.

Barbee faces charges of aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He is being held in the Beaver County Jail on $100,000 bail.

There is no word if any charges will be filed in the second case.
