Police: Man makes unusual statement about murder at Oakmont Bakery

OAKMONT, Pa. —

Police are investigating an unusual comment made at Oakmont Bakery last Thursday.

“A customer came in and went up to one of our counter girls and said, ‘Seems like a good day for a murder," Oakmont Bakery manager Michael Sullivan said.

Workers told police the man was making small talk about the weather before making the unusual remark around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. He bought something from another cashier and left the store immediately after.

Two hours later, police said they were called by a woman who saw a similar looking man yelling on a sidewalk nearby.

“He was kind of causing a disturbance,” Oakmont Police Chief Dave DiSanti said. “She believed he had something in his hand, possibly a weapon. So, there could be a correlation between the two, which we are looking in to.”

Sullivan said no one was directly threatened or injured and he doesn’t want customers worrying about their safety.

“There wasn’t a direct threat,” Sullivan said. “I think it was just somebody with a weird sense of humor.”

Authorities said the man was in his late 50s and stands about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He had gray hair and facial hair.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
