Exterminators were called to Penn State University after bed bugs were discovered in a dorm building Monday night.
Visitors attending a science event on campus discovered the bugs in Curtin Hall, where they were staying.
Six students from the Connellsville School District were on campus for the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition, and four of them stayed in the infested building.
Superintendent Dr. Dan Lunetic said, “Obviously I'm concerned about it, but they all seemed to be OK. They had some minor bites on them, I guess, and I’m sure people at Penn State are much more worried than me.”
Three rooms in the residence hall were determined to have been affected by the bugs. The rooms were treated and the rest of the building was inspected.
About 40 people were staying in the dorm building, and were given information on how to prevent the bugs from spreading.
