ALIQUIPPA, Pa. —
Police in Aliquippa are investigating after a teen was hospitalized with welts he said he received when he was beaten by a family member with an electrical cord.
According to police, a 13-year-old boy walked into the Aliquippa police station Monday night and told officers that he had been beaten by a family member with an electrical cord.
The boy also told police that the family member kicked him out of the house after the alleged attack.
Authorities said the boy told investigators that he was being disciplined when it got out of control.
Police said the marks on the boy's body were enough to send him to an area hospital and contact social services to investigate.
"No one should be beaten with an electrical cord. Now, it's our job to look into this and see if it was criminal," Aliquippa police Detective Steve Roberts said.
The boy has been placed in foster care while police investigate. Authorities said they need to read the doctor's report and talk with the adults in the house to figure out their next step.
