BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. —
Two brothers accused of operating a burglary scheme in Butler County were arrested Wednesday.
Investigators said Kody and Kristopher Sarnese would take their mother’s car to a residence in daylight, and one of them would approach the door of the house with an empty jug. If someone answered, he would ask for water for an overheated car.
At one point, they found an empty residence, broke in and stole gold jewelry and cash valued at more than $2,500, police said.
One of the brothers’ victims was Roger and Nancy Weitzel. Channel 11 News told the couple that the brothers accused of breaking into their Muddy Creek Township home were arrested.
“It really upset me. My daughter’s cash that she’s been saving for years, they found it stashed in my sock drawer,” Roger Weitzel said. “Normally, if someone came to our door looking for help, I’d do what I could for them. Now, after something like this, I’ll think twice.”
Their charges include burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.
The Sarnese brother remain in the Butler County Jail with bail is set at $25,000.
