Authorities are investigating an accident involving a car and a bus Wednesday morning in downtown Pittsburgh.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Moultrie Street just before 9 a.m. when a car turned into the path of a PAT bus.
“They just pulled right out,” bus rider David Richardson said about the car. “The bus driver tried to miss him, but you can see that he didn’t.”
Witnesses told Channel 11 News they saw two men leave the car and flee the scene on foot. It’s unknown why the men ran.
“As soon as their car stopped they didn’t bother to check anything, they just jumped out and ran up the street,” Richardson said.
At least three bus riders were transported from the scene of the crash to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
The accident scene has been cleared and traffic is moving regularly.
The incident remains under investigation.
