Several weeks after Channel 11 News reported on a home dubbed the “three-story motel for critters” in North Versailles, neighbors have seen improvements.
Reporter Vince Sims first told WPXI-TV viewers about the home on Ault Street one month ago. The house, owned by the East Allegheny School District, had weeds covering the house and was infested with animals.
“I had a groundhog on my kitchen table. I’ve had a squirrel in my living room. The last straw was when a raccoon came through my kitchen ceiling. I said, ‘That’s it. I’ve had it,’” neighbor Irene Gunderman said.
Gunderman said after Channel 11’s report, officials from East Allegheny have begun cleaning up the property. Officials said they didn’t realize how bad the conditions at the property had become. They have since cleared weeds and covered holes in the house.
“I am so thankful for your station. I’m thankful for you guys,” Gunderman said.
The East Allegheny School District business manager said they’re hoping to either sell the home or demolish it.
