Police said Tuesday that they don’t expect to file charges against the owner of a Bethel Park music store who fatally shot a man who attacked the owner with a wooden club.
Allegheny County homicide Sgt. Scott Scherer said, "It doesn't appear likely" that 73-year-old Alfred Armen will be charged with shooting 31-year-old Andrew Moore, of Venetia, on Saturday afternoon.
The district attorney must approve the recommendation that charges not be filed.
Police are investigating Moore's mental health history in connection with the shooting, which happened after he first left Armen's Music Store in Bethel Park, then returned with the club which he used to strike Armen's wife.
Investigators said Armen was attacked when he defended his wife and pulled a gun, first shooting himself in the arm and then shooting Moore four times.
Moore had purchased guitar strings at the store years before, but wasn't a regular customer.
