Child thrown from car after mother loses control on I-376 in Moon

MOON, Pa. —

A 7-year-old girl was thrown from a car after her mother lost control on Buisness Interstate 376.

Police said the woman crossed both lanes, hit a guard rail and then rolled over several times before going down a hillside.

Investigators said it's not clear what caused the crash.

"We could find no reason for this crash to take place at this point, " Moon Township officer Doug Ogden told Channel 11 News. "But there is a possibility of a vehicle malfunction."

Emergency crews shut down the highway as a medical helicopter landed.

Police said the mother and daughter did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
