An anonymous call to police led officers to find a child inside of a filthy home in Clairton Wednesday.
Investigators said a neighbor called police to complain about cockroaches at a home on Waddell Avenue. When police went to check on the condition of the home, they said they found a 22-month-old baby inside.
According to police, the officers called the house “the filthiest they’ve ever seen.”
Police said the baby had lice and was removed from the house. Three children, ages 6, 8 and 11, who were at school when police arrived, also live at the home, police said.
Officials said the woman seemed unfazed when the health inspectors arrived to shut her house down.
Police and Children and Youth Services are investigating.
The mother of the children will be charged with endangering the welfare of children, investigators said.
