Church defeats vote to allow gay marriage in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH —

Members of the American Presbyterian Church defeated a vote to change the definition of marriage that would allow gay marriage.

Members of the church rejected the plan to change the meaning of holy matrimony from a man and a woman to two people, Friday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The vote was rejected by a narrow margin, according to our news exchange partners at TribLIVe.

Members agreed to conduct a two-year study on sexuality and the church.
