Head-on crash in Bethel Park sends 2 women to hospital

BETHEL PARK, Pa. —

Two women were taken to area hospitals Friday morning after a head-on crash in Bethel Park.

Authorities said the crash was reported on Hamilton Road just before 8 a.m. Friday when one of the cars crossed the center line and into oncoming traffic.

Investigators at the scene told Channel 11’s Cara Sapida that two female drivers were transported to the hospital. Their names and conditions have not been released.

Melody Lang said she was the first person on the scene of the horrifying crash and called 911.

“I heard a very loud crash and I looked in my rearview mirror and saw car parts flying everywhere,” Lang said.

According to Lang, one of the drivers was crushed and trapped inside her Jeep until emergency crews cut her out.

“She wasn’t saying anything, that’s what worried me. When I was on the phone with Bethel Park police, they asked me if she was OK and I said, ‘She’s in shock. She’s not saying anything,’” Lang said.

According to police, the two women were the only people involved in the crash.

“I checked on the other lady and she was just out of it. She was awake. She could move her toes but that was it,” Lang said.

The incident remains under investigation.
