CHAMPION, Pa. —
Property records show Seven Springs Mountain Resort has paid about $7.5 million to buy a nearby resort in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The (Somerset) Daily American reports Seven Springs purchased Hidden Valley Resort in five separate parcel transactions that were recorded Oct. 1 and 2 in Somerset County.
Seven Springs chairman Bob Nutting is an avid skier and principal owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Wheeling, W.Va.-based Ogden Newspapers Inc.
Nutting announced his intention to buy Hidden Valley in September. Both resorts are about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Although it takes about 13 miles to travel between the resorts by car, the properties are less than five miles apart in the Laurel Mountains.
Hidden Valley has 29 ski slopes and trails and an 18-hole golf course on about 1,200 acres. It had been owned by The Buncher Co.
